The ARM / Luminary Micro collaboration on Stellaris represents an end-to-end engagement. Luminary Micro selected the Cortex-M3 processor as the basis for the microcontroller, then used the ARM RealView Development Suite and RealView ICE solution to develop and validate the design. Then lead Luminary customers used the RealView tools to evaluate the microcontroller; these customers can now use the RealView Microcontroller Development Kit to develop optimized applications.

CodeSourcery

CodeSourcery services include software design, software engineering, and open source project management. In partnership with ARM, Ltd., CodeSourcery develops improvements to the GNU Toolchain for ARM processors and provides regular, carefully tested, precompiled releases of the GNU Toolchain. With this release, CodeSourcery has added full support for the ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller core and Luminary Micro’s Stellaris family of microcontrollers.

CodeSourcery’s Toolset for Stellaris microcontrollers includes support for various hardware and software debuggers through ARM’s RDI software protocol. In Luminary Micro’s Stellaris Development Kits, users can debug with the on-board support for serial debug over USB. On-board serial debug over USB supports the new SWD (serial wire debug) protocol just introduced with Cortex-M3.

FreeRTOS.org

Based in Bristol, UK, FreeRTOS.org oversees the open source development of the FreeRTOS real time operating system kernel. FreeRTOS(TM) is a portable, open source, mini Real Time Kernel - a free to download and royalty free RTOS that can be used in commercial applications (see license text available on FreeRTOS.org.

FreeRTOS is a portable, open source, miniature Real Time Kernel for use in embedded applications. FreeRTOS is free to download and royalty free for use even in commercial applications, subject to the license.

FreeRTOS.org’s FreeRTOS port for Stellaris microcontrollers is also included in Luminary Micro’s Stellaris Development Kits, along with a demonstration application showing the use of FreeRTOS in small application environments.
