Controller Area Network

The Luminary parts (in particular the 601 and 801) look to be absolutely awesome except that I see no support for CAN. The motion control support is all that I've been looking for (in particular with an easy to use arm core as opposed to some propreitary DSP with costly tools) I'm just bummed to have to use yet another external CAN controller (with associated crystal, transceiver, etc).

Does anyone have any info as to Luminary's plans to integrate CAN?

Re:Controller Area Network

I was just about to post the same question. I too noticed that the 601, 801 and now the 618, and 818 would be perfect for motion control, except for the lack of CAN support. I think it would be an awsome idea (and probably get many sales) if they did a version of these processors with a CAN controller or 2 in them.

Luminary Micro, will CAN be in a future product?

Re:Controller Area Network

I hope that you've seen our recent announcement introducing 15 new devices with CAN. Do these devices fit your needs? There are a few devices that include the PWM, QEI and ADC functionality that the 601/801 and x18 have.

Re:Controller Area Network

Yes, I saw these yesterday and they do indeed meet my needs. Have ordered one of the dev kits from mouser.

Thanks!

Re:Controller Area Network

These devices look perfect. I do have one question however. Is ther datasheet for the 2965 really locked, or do I need to update my PDF viewer? If its really locked, where do I get the password for it? Thanks.

Re:Controller Area Network

I didn't notice that the datasheet was locked, but I did have to login (using same username/pwd as I do for the forums) in order to download it.
