LM3S6965 Evaluation Kits and ULINK2 Debugger.

Hello,

I have been using a LM3S6965 Eval kit (version A) for a few months. I realize that I can use the ULINK2 debugger on it and it runs faster than the built-in debugger of the kit (download and debug).

Last week, I bought a new LM3S6965 kit. This time, it's version D. And I can't use the ULINK2 debugger on that kit. Every time I try to download or debug, it just pops up a JTAG communication error.

So what should I do to make the ULINK2 debugger work on the new board?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

Huy

Re:LM3S6965 Evaluation Kits and ULINK2 Debugger.

Don't have your Eval bd or I'd test and report for you.

Appears that you have JTAG contention between ULink and FTDI outputs - or that some "set-up/steering" jumper is mis-configured.

Settings are usually well covered in the Quick Start or Kit User Manual - review carefully. Final thought - if you are powering via USB perhaps that connection is signaling the JTAG Mux to switch to FTDI rather than JTAG input mode. (review the schematic - believe that one FTDI output controls the Mux.

Real final thought - insure that your new Rev D board works via FTDI-USB connection. If that succeeds you very likely have multi-source JTAG contention.

Hi

On some of the boards there is a missing pull-up resistor required by the external JTAG debugger.

See the following tutorial (page 13/36):
