6965 Evalboard Debug mode 2

Hello all,

According of Stellaris LM3S6965 Evaluation Board
USER’S MANUAL p. 12 debug modes 2 and 3 automatically detect the presence of an external debug cable.

I would like to power the board from pin 1 IO Pads (+5V) instead of USB. When I switch +5V on, the board automatically switchs into debug mode 2 - red LED is on. It happens saying nine times in ten attempts. How could I block switching into the debug mode?

Thanks in advance

Igor

Re:6965 Evalboard Debug mode 2

Hello Igor,
What revision of the EK-LM3S6965 evaluation board are you using? This is in copper on the bottom of the board and should look something like "EK-LM3S6965-<rev#>". I have tested this on a rev C EK-LM3S6965 evalution board without a problem.

If it is a rev A, the debug mode was a little differnt and the CPLD programming was a little different. The 5V pin was not meant to be the supply pin, there may be a timing issue with the CPLD.

Regards,
Dan

Re:6965 Evalboard Debug mode 2

Hello Dan,

As a matter of fact the board we use is revision A. We have purchased another board will be delivered this week. I hope it will be rev. C so the problem can be solved.

Thanks
