At construction team of the LM3S1968 Board

Hallo People
The LM3S1968 Evaluation board has a USB interface (54819-0572, document number EK-LM3S1968, Rev B). Today this interface at my board got away from its base simple by plugging out the USB cable. Of particular interrest is the following:
1. The front surface mounts of the PCB both got out. I dont' speak about the solder pins of the case of the USB but of the pads that the solder pins connect.
2. The USB connections are all fine so when I am plugging there is a little of life. When I am trying to download the code, I receive failure message.
3. Under the USB case there is a 1mm wide net of copper that was connected to both the pad of the USB case and now is broken.

Any ideas for repairing it? Can I repair it?

Just for your record, I am working currently with 4 of your boards, and I did not have any problems of plugging/unplugging the USB.

Thanks in advance!
Chris

If you are skilled at soldering and board repair, you can attempt to repair it yourself. Otherwise, please contact the vendor that supplied this board to you and ask for an RMA.

Re:At construction team of the LM3S1968 Board

First thanks for the response.
Question 1
RMA what it is?
Question 2
I can solder. What is worth to notice is that all the good boards are having a different USB connector than the defect one. The defect one provides as discrimination a brown sticker at the top and at the solder side an open view to the soldering pins. I also notice at the back of the PCB that the good boards were revision B. The defect is revision A (EK-LM3S1968-A).

Since I have already try to solder one pad it will be unlikely that the vendor will accept it back.

Anyway, I will take my risk to get away the USB connector and solder it. I will post again in order to signify any results.

Sincerelly
Chris

Re:At construction team of the LM3S1968 Board

Sorry, I should realize that RMA might not mean the same thing to everyone. RMA is Return Material Authorization. What I mean is that you contact the vendor and explain the problem, and then they authorize you to return the board. They usually give you a number (RMA number) so that the return can be tracked by the vendor and the manufacturer.

I don't think that it is significant that it is a Rev A board instead of Rev B. The brown sticker is just a piece of insulating tape, sometimes it is removed and sometimes remains on the connector.
