New app notes and Boot Loader

I've just posted 3 new application notes:

AN01246 - Using the Stellaris LM3S615 and LM3S316 Microcontrollers to Control a CNC Machine

AN01248 - Using the Stellaris Boot Loader (includes source code)

AN0149 - Upgrading to Luminary Micro’s Stellaris Microcontrollers from Microchip’s PIC Microcontrollers

The boot loader is a step up from the serial flash loader, allowing you to keep the serial update capability along with your custom application. There were a lot of requests for this type of application, so enjoy!

Re:New app notes and Boot Loader

Hi,

Great tips on the PIC migration plus a bootloader source, what a neat set of app notes!

And to top it a CNC controller. Just one question, where can I buy control board for the CNC mill? Mine is sitting idle at the moment but Mouser does not seem to cary the board yet :-) Seems that I need "Deus ex machina"!

Jump back into Boot Loader

This bootloader looks good.
While my app is running, I will need to go into "code reflash mode" in response to a remote message, rather than a GPIO pin. I can issue a software reset to start the bootloader, but then I will need it to wait for a new image rather than starting my (old) app.
Seems like I need a flag that can be set by the application, and cleared by the bootloader. The state of the flag needs to survive the jump from app to bootloader (software reset). The flag also needs to be guaranteed false on powerup reset.
Does the on-chip RAM have a guaranteed powerup state?
What other methods might work?

Re:New app notes and Boot Loader

Hi Eric,

I have sent an email on support@luminarymicro.com
3 days ago but I have not received any responce nor mentioned unlocking utility. My LM3S811 EVAL BOARD is still locked, and I can't alive programming anymore.

My mail is zmcom@verat.net

Regards,

Zoran.

Re:New app notes and Boot Loader

Zoran,

I sent the utility on Monday, but received a notification that the email had bounced. I tried resending it on Tuesday, but it obviously hasn't gone through (even though I didn't get a bounce notification from the second attempt). I'll try one more time, and if that doesn't go through, I'll post it to the website for you to grab it.

Sorry for the trouble...

Re:New app notes and Boot Loader

Zoran,

I tried sending it to you yesterday again. Did you receive my email?
