Stellaris® Ethernet and CAN Evaluation Kits w/ IAR Embedded Workbench KickStart Development Tools Luminary Micro and IAR Systems Announce Stellaris® Evaluation Kits Featuring Integrated 10/100 Ethernet and CAN with IAR Embedded Workbench™ KickStart Development Tools
IAR Systems Among First to Support 27 Newly Announced Integrated Communications Stellaris MCUs
AUSTIN, TX — June 5, 2007 — Luminary Micro (www.luminarymicro.com), creators of the award-winning Stellaris® Cortex™-M3-based microcontrollers, and IAR Systems, a world-leading provider of embedded tools, announced today the immediate availability of two Stellaris Evaluation Kits paired with the IAR Embedded Workbench KickStart Edition software development tools.
Designed for the new class of Stellaris integrated communication MCUs, these compact and versatile evaluation kits take advantage of the capabilities of the new Stellaris microcontrollers with more memory, more GPIOs, enhanced power management, and the addition of integrated 10/100 Ethernet MAC and PHY communications and integrated CAN communications.
The IAR Embedded Workbench is a powerful set of essential build and debug tools for embedded projects using both C and C++. The KickStart Edition allows projects of up to 32KB code size, enabling users to seriously evaluate the performance and capabilities of the Stellaris LM3S2965 and LM3S6965 microcontrollers.
“The KickStart Edition of IAR’s Embedded Workbench—with its generous 32KB evaluation limit for code— combined with Luminary Micro’s versatile and popular hardware evaluation boards provides a powerful platform for users to put the kit to full use doing real work,” said Luminary Micro Chief Marketing Officer Jean Anne Booth.
Stellaris LM3S6965: Fully Integrated 10/100 Embedded Ethernet
The EKC-LM3S6965 features fully integrated 10/100 Ethernet capability and includes two examples of an embedded web-server application. The quickstart application that runs out-of-the-box includes an embedded web server utilizing the open source lwIP Ethernet stack. The kit also contains a web server demonstration application with FreeRTOS.org™ RTOS and the open source uIP Ethernet stack. Each Stellaris LM3S6965 Ethernet Evaluation Kit contains:
Stellaris LM3S2965: A Fully Operable “CAN Network in a box”
The EKC-LM3S2965 features integrated CAN (Controller Area Network) and includes a separate Stellaris LM3S2110-based CAN device node board, providing an example fully functioning CAN network out of the box. Each Stellaris LM3S2965 Evaluation Kit contains:
“Luminary has broken new ground again with the only Cortex-M3-based real-time networking microcontrollers,” said Mats Ullstrom, Product Director at IAR Systems. “These kits provide embedded developers with an excellent way to get familiar with the most cutting-edge hardware and development tools.”
The Stellaris family of microcontrollers currently contains 51 feature-rich microcontrollers targeted at embedded and industrial applications, such as building and home automation; factory automation; motion and motor control; industrial controls; electronic point-of-sales; remote data acquisition; test and measurement instrumentation; fire and security; network appliances and switches; medical instrumentation; and gaming equipment.
