In addition to enabling access to the rich features of the Stellaris LM3S9B96 microcontroller – including simultaneous interfaces for Ethernet MAC/PHY, USB On-The-Go, and Controller Area Network – the Stellaris DK-LM3S9B96 evaluation kit adds several features that enhances the overall user experience, such as an integrated 3.5-inch color QVGA LCD graphics display with a resistive touch interface, a thumbwheel potentiometer (for menu navigation), a MicroSD card slot, 1 MB of serial Flash memory, precision 3V analog reference voltage, user LED and pushbutton, and I/O wired to convenient break-out pads. Moreover, the DK-LM3S9B96 takes full advantage of the Stellaris family’s versatile External Peripheral Interface with an 8 MB SDRAM memory module attachment and the new Integrated Interchip Sound (I2S) Interface with an external audio codec and interface supporting line in/out, microphone in, and headphone out.

The Stellaris DK-LM3S1xx/3xx/8xx Development Kits work with any of the LM3Sxxx microcontrollers in the Stellaris family. The development kit will contain both the motherboard and correct daughterboard for the specified chip, or order daughterboards separately to use with a kit you have already purchased. Each development kit features a UART transceiver and DB9 male connector, All I/O available on headers, One potentiometer and one photocell for driving the comparator inputs, Eight user LEDs and one pushbutton for use with the Stellaris GPIOs, Standard ARM® 20-pin JTAG debug connector, USB 2.0 full-speed interface allows JTAG/SWD debug without external in-circuit emulator (ICE), 1 Mbit SPI-based flash memory, One buzzer for PWM use, a 32.768 kHz oscillator for real-time clock, external reset switch and power-on reset supervisor, 5 V and 3.3 V LED power indicators, a user-prototype area, a Peripheral Device Controller (PDC) CPLD, and a 16 character by 2-line LCD display.
