Integrated Analog Functionality

The Stellaris® Family of ARM® Cortex™-M3 microcontrollers features intelligent analog capability, including up to 8 channels of ADC operating at up to 1 Msps, up to three analog comparators, and an onboard temperature sensor. Each intelligent ADC channel features a sequencer to minimize CPU utilization, ensuring that the CPU is used for data processing - not data collection. In addition, every Stellaris device offers an onboard LDO voltage regulator to provide the correct input voltages to power the device from a 3.3V source. Together with larger on-chip memories, enhanced power management, and expanded I/O and control capabilities, these Stellaris family members are optimized for industrial applications requiring reliable control and connectivity, including Remote Monitoring, Electronic Point-of-Sale Machines, Test and Measurement Equipment, Network Appliances and Switches, Factory Automation, HVAC and Building Control, Gaming Equipment, Motion Control, Medical Instrumentation, and Fire and Security.

Comparators

The Stellaris® Family ARM® Cortex™-M3 provides up to three independent integrated analog comparators that can be configured to drive an output or generate an interrupt or ADC event. The comparator can provide its output to a device pin, acting as a replacement for an analog comparator on the board, or it can be used to signal the application via interrupts or triggers to the ADC to cause it to start capturing a sample sequence. The interrupt generation and ADC triggering logic is separate. This means, for example, that an interrupt can be generated on a rising edge and the ADC triggered on a falling edge.
